A man has been digging a tunnel in the ground for the past 18 years after
allegedly receiving instructions from God to do so.
The 69-year-old man
identified as Santiago Sanchez started digging a tunnel in the city of Berlin,
in the Department of Usulutan in western El Salvador, after hearing from God.
Sanchez said God
instructed him about 18 years ago, and he has continued on his project ever
since then. According to him, he heads into the tunnel at around 3AM everyday
to resume work, and digs out about 90 pounds of rock and stones every day.
According to the
information, the pensioner said: “What I am doing is a spiritual revelation
from God. Only I am allowed to go to the end, because I am God’s tunnel digger.
Nobody else is allowed to go there.” His wife, Isabel Ventura, said people
think her husband is crazy, but his response is always “no one knows what God
is going to demand from you.” So far, Sanchez is the only person who has gotten
to the end of the tunnel, as the reporter who tried to follow him down, changed
his mind after going a few meters down, due to the dusty nature of the tunnel.
